# Colour temperature

> The warmth or coolness of white light, measured in kelvin (K); daylight is about 5500–5600 K.

Also known as: color temperature, CCT, kelvin. Category: Lighting and optics.

Colour temperature describes the hue of white light in kelvin (K): lower values are warmer (orange), higher values cooler (blue). Studio lights for product photography are usually daylight-balanced, around 5500 to 5600 K, and all lights in a set-up should match.

## How PhotoRobot uses it

Some DMX-controlled lights used with PhotoRobot allow colour temperature to be set from PhotoRobot Controls. PhotoRobot notes that Broncolor Siros S strobes keep their colour stable when flash intensity changes, which avoids recalibrating colour when light settings change.
