# Configuration cascade

> Viewer, workspace and export settings inherited from organization to project to item.

Category: E-commerce and workflow.

A configuration cascade defines settings at several levels, where a lower level overrides a higher one. In PhotoRobot Cloud the order is item over project over organization.

## How PhotoRobot uses it

Studio managers set defaults at the [organization](https://www.photorobot.com/glossary/cloud-organization) level and keep exceptions rare: if more than about 10 % of items need their own override, the defaults are wrong.
