# Continuous light

> Lighting that stays on constantly, typically LED, so the effect is visible before shooting.

Also known as: continuous lighting, LED light, LED panel. Category: Lighting and optics.

Continuous light stays on all the time rather than flashing, so photographers see exactly what the camera will record. Modern continuous lights are mostly LED panels or COB fixtures; they are essential for video but deliver less intensity than strobes for large subjects.

## How PhotoRobot uses it

PhotoRobot controls continuous lights over the DMX bus, for example FOMEI LED DMX fixtures and LED ROLL panels, and can use LED lights of its own design for jewellery and small items. PhotoRobot notes that for larger objects the intensity of LED lights remains insufficient and strobes are needed.
