# DAM (digital asset management)

Digital asset management (DAM) is software for storing, organising, searching, approving and distributing media files such as product photos, spins and videos, with their metadata and usage rights. A DAM is usually the single source of truth for approved images that shops, marketplaces and marketing use.

## How PhotoRobot uses it

PhotoRobot Controls includes digital asset management: assets are organised into projects, items and folders, tagged and found by full-text search, reviewed in an approval process and shared with clients through their own pages. PhotoRobot also helps customers transfer existing data into it, and webhooks keep an external DAM in sync.
