# File naming convention

> A rule for naming image files so systems can match them to products and views automatically.

Also known as: naming convention, filename template, filename structure. Category: E-commerce and workflow.

A file naming convention is a rule for building image file names, typically from the product identifier, the view or angle and a sequence number. Consistent names let shops, PIM and DAM systems assign images to products automatically.

## How PhotoRobot uses it

PhotoRobot Controls renames downloaded images automatically and exports them with configurable filename templates, so the same content can be delivered in different structures to different recipients.
