# Geo-redundant storage

> Storing copies of data in several distant locations so it survives the loss of a data centre.

Also known as: multi-regional storage, disaster recovery. Category: E-commerce and workflow.

Geo-redundant storage keeps copies of data in at least two geographically separate data centres, so the data remains available if one location fails. It is the basis of cloud disaster recovery.

## How PhotoRobot uses it

PhotoRobot states that its cloud storage is multi-regional and geo-redundant, with data stored in at least two locations at least 100 miles apart; replication is asynchronous, while data is redundant in at least one location immediately on upload.
