# Ghost mannequin effect > An editing technique that makes the mannequin disappear so the garment looks worn by an invisible body. Also known as: invisible mannequin effect, hollow man effect. Category: Photography techniques. The ghost mannequin effect makes clothing look as if it is worn by an invisible person. The garment is photographed on a mannequin, the mannequin is removed in post-production, and where needed a separate shot of the inside (for example the back of the collar) is composited in. The effect gives garments a full-bodied, three-dimensional shape while keeping attention on the product.
