# GS1 image standards

> GS1 guidelines for how product images are captured, named and exchanged in retail supply chains.

Also known as: GS1 standards, GS1 images, GS1. Category: E-commerce and workflow.

GS1, the organisation behind barcodes and GTINs, publishes product image specifications that define how retail product images should be captured, named and shared, including angles such as front, back, top and marketing views of packages, and file and naming conventions. Retailers and data pools that follow these specifications can accept images from suppliers without manual rework.

## How PhotoRobot uses it

PhotoRobot produces GS1 images in parallel with 360 spins: the software extracts GS1 images into a separate folder and can publish marketing images or planograms. For food packages PhotoRobot lists angles such as a closed package with barcode and description, an open package showing the contents, and the bottom of the package, and OCR captures on-package data.
