# Image metadata (EXIF, IPTC, XMP)

> Information stored inside an image file, such as camera settings, copyright, keywords and description.

Also known as: image metadata, EXIF, IPTC, XMP, metadata. Category: 360, 3D and output formats.

Image metadata is information embedded in an image file. EXIF records camera data such as exposure and lens, while IPTC and XMP store descriptive and rights information such as title, description, keywords, author and copyright, which DAM systems and marketplaces can read.

## How PhotoRobot uses it

PhotoRobot Controls preserves EXIF, XMP and IPTC on final images and embeds organisation defaults for artist, company and copyright at export; item tags become IPTC/XMP keywords. Item data such as dimensions from CubiScan or OCR text can be exported with the images.
