# Lazy loading

> Loading content only when it is needed, such as the remaining frames of a spin.

Also known as: lazy load. Category: Software.

Lazy loading delays loading content until it is needed, which reduces the initial weight of a page. Content outside the first view loads only when the visitor needs it.
