# Light-wrap

> Background light spilling around the edges of a product, softening its contours.

Also known as: light wrap, light bleed. Category: Lighting and optics.

Light-wrap is light from a bright background spilling around the edges of the subject. It softens contours, reduces contrast and can tint reflective surfaces.

## How PhotoRobot uses it

PhotoRobot's studio lighting overview describes light-wrap as typical of all-in-one box-like systems with too much diffuse backlight, resulting in reduced gloss on reflective surfaces, a milky colour tint and loss of texture.
