# Macro

> A stored sequence of PhotoRobot Controls commands that automates multi-step capture across folders.

Also known as: macros, PhotoRobot macros. Category: Software.

A macro in PhotoRobot Controls is a stored sequence of commands that automates a capture workflow across one or more folders. Commands include changing folder, running a sequence, copying images between folders and loading presets.

## How PhotoRobot uses it

A typical macro captures a 360 spin and copies selected frames into a stills folder, so the same angles are not photographed twice. A macro can also pause so the operator can turn an object upside down to capture its other hemisphere. Macros can be triggered by barcodes and tags, and [Macro PI Action](https://www.photorobot.com/glossary/macro-pi-action) adds PhotoRobot Intelligence steps to them.
