# Packshot

> A clean, standardised product photo, usually on a white background, often showing the packaging.

Also known as: pack shot, packshot photography. Category: Photography techniques.

A packshot is a clean, standardised photograph of a product, typically on a plain white or transparent background, often showing the product with its packaging and labels. Packshots are used in online shops, catalogues and marketplaces where products must be shown consistently and without distractions.

Good packshots are evenly lit, sharp from front to back and shot from consistent angles, so that a whole range looks uniform on a category page. Many marketplaces require a packshot-style main image.

## How PhotoRobot uses it

PhotoRobot systems capture packshots together with 360 spins in one sequence, and the [PhotoRobot Studio](https://www.photorobot.com/photorobot-studio) service delivers them on white or transparent backgrounds. Glass-plate turntables such as the [Centerless Table](https://www.photorobot.com/robots/centerless-table) produce a natural white background without clipping.
