# PNG

> A lossless image format that supports transparency; larger files than JPEG.

Also known as: Portable Network Graphics. Category: 360, 3D and output formats.

PNG (Portable Network Graphics) is a lossless image format that supports full alpha transparency. It reproduces images exactly but produces much larger files than JPEG for photographs.

## How PhotoRobot uses it

PhotoRobot uses PNG for images with a transparent background. Its item export manual notes that PNG files are often too large for the web and are used only in special cases.
