# Product styling

> Preparing and arranging a product so it looks its best before it is photographed.

Also known as: styling, staging. Category: Photography techniques.

Product styling is the preparation of a product before photography: shaping and pinning garments, removing tags, cleaning surfaces and arranging parts, so the product looks its best and consistent with the style guide. Consistent styling is as important for a uniform catalogue as consistent lighting and angles.

## How PhotoRobot uses it

In PhotoRobot workflows, styling and staging belong to the preparation stage, and items can be sorted to shelves by style guide, staging and preset. PhotoRobot's fashion tutorials describe the styling tools used for ghost mannequin photography.
