# SmartCodes

> Printed PhotoRobot trigger codes that start software actions when scanned, such as starting a capture sequence.

Also known as: SmartCode, Smart Codes. Category: Software.

SmartCodes are printed barcodes or QR codes that act as commands for PhotoRobot Controls. Scanning one triggers a workflow step directly, so the operator does not have to walk back to the computer.

## How PhotoRobot uses it

The standard SmartCodes are Start Sequence, Ready for Shoot, Start CubiScan Measurement and Open Sort to Shelves. Studios print them as stickers or labels near workstations or carry them on keychains, and PhotoRobot publishes a print-ready sheet in the SmartCodes user guide.
