# Status round-trip

> Sending an item's status from PhotoRobot back to the upstream ERP through a webhook.

Also known as: round-trip. Category: E-commerce and workflow.

A status round-trip keeps two systems in agreement: when PhotoRobot publishes an item, a webhook handler finds the item's external ID and updates the record in the ERP. It closes the loop between capture and the system of record.

## How PhotoRobot uses it

It is the bidirectional sync pattern taught in module [I03](https://www.photorobot.com/academy/curriculum#i03-shooting-list-sku), built on the [external ID](https://www.photorobot.com/glossary/external-id) and the [mapping table](https://www.photorobot.com/glossary/mapping-table).
