# SynchroBox

> PhotoRobot multi-camera controller that fires each camera with its own advance; up to 8 cameras per unit, units can be linked.

Also known as: Multi-Camera Controller. Category: Hardware.

The SynchroBox is PhotoRobot's multi-camera controller. When two or more cameras are used, it fires each camera's shutter with its own advance so that all of them capture the desired angle despite different shutter lags.

## How PhotoRobot uses it

The SynchroBox is a rack-mount device; one unit connects up to 8 cameras, and several units can be stacked and linked into a cluster when a set-up needs more. It receives the shutter pulse from the control unit and, using the shutter lag value entered for each camera, triggers each shutter early enough during non-stop rotation. It is required whenever a PhotoRobot system works with more than one camera, for example the [MultiCam](https://www.photorobot.com/robots/multicam). Because it is electronics rather than mechanics, it is not tied to the MultiCam arch: linked units can fire dozens of cameras placed around a subject to freeze a moment in a [bullet-time](https://www.photorobot.com/glossary/bullet-time) shot.
