# Tethered shooting

> Shooting with the camera connected to a computer, which controls settings and receives every image directly.

Also known as: tethered capture, tethering, tethered photography. Category: Photography techniques.

Tethered shooting means the camera is connected to a computer, by cable or wirelessly, while photographing. The software can change camera settings, trigger the shutter and show live view, and each image is transferred straight to the computer for review and processing.

## How PhotoRobot uses it

PhotoRobot Controls controls Canon cameras over USB through the Canon SDK, setting aperture, shutter speed and ISO and downloading and renaming images automatically. [PhotoRobot Touch](https://www.photorobot.com/photorobot-touch) uses tethered shooting with a wire shutter and adaptor to capture simple 360 spins with an iPhone.
