# Unwrap

> PhotoRobot Controls tool that flattens text wrapping around cylindrical packaging so OCR can read it.

Unwrapping turns the curved surface of a cylindrical product, such as a bottle or can, into one flat image of the whole label. In PhotoRobot Controls the Unwrap tool works with OCR to read text that wraps around the product.

## How PhotoRobot uses it

PhotoRobot uses Unwrap together with [OCR](https://www.photorobot.com/glossary/ocr) to extract weights, ingredient lists, nutritional information and other on-package data, which is attached to the images as metadata in parallel with GS1 image production.
