## 1. Product Description - PhotoRobot Carpet Studio

The PhotoRobot-powered Carpet Studio integrates the Carousel 3000 as a robotic photography platform with software controls via PhotoRobot Controls App (further “CAPP”). The robotic platform of the Carousel 3000 is suitable for the spin orientation of photographed objects, while the rotary platform is 3 meters in diameter. Meanwhile, the engine is separate from the photography platform, guaranteeing a low floor level.

### 1.1. Machine Overview - Carousel 3000

The main part of the Carpet Studio is the PhotoRobot Carousel 3000 machine in the square-shape modification with drive-up ramps on the front, left, and right sides.

### 1.2. Main Machine Components of Carousel 3000

The main components of the Carousel 3000 are in the following infographics labeling parts 1 - 7.

- Rotary platform **(1)**

- Plate floor **(2)**

- Motor assembly **(3)**

- Machine connectors dome **(4)**

- Drive-up ramps **(5)**

- Background / cyclorama connecting points **(6)**

- 19-inch rack Control Unit **(7)**

**Note:** The 19-inch rack **(7)** houses the Control unit, which is installed horizontally in a ventilated space to ensure the cooling of electronic components.

## 2. Controls Software Overview - PhotoRobot Controls App

Control of the Carousel 3000 robotic photography platform and workstation is via PhotoRobot Controls App software (CAPP). CAPP integrates control over robots, cameras, studio lights, and post production. This includes workflow management features as well as the necessary functionality for effective automation in post-processing, and publishing of content.

**Note:** PhotoRobot Controls App software is not delivered with the device; it is a separate purchase available for download via your [PhotoRobot Account](https://account.photorobot.com/downloads).

For support with installation and getting started, refer to [PhotoRobot Controls App: Getting Started](https://www.photorobot.com/manuals/getting-started).

Further, be aware that the software may start up in “wizard mode” after installation of CAPP. Wizard mode is a simplified user interface which enables the scanning of barcodes to identify objects and automatically start capture sequences. For technical information on the configuration of wizard mode, refer to [PhotoRobot Controls App Wizard Mode Configuration](https://www.photorobot.com/manuals/wizard-mode).

## 3. Carousel 3000 Machine Dimensions

The following technical blueprints illustrate the machine dimensions of the Carousel 3000 in the square-shape configuration.

## 4. Cameras Positioning

Camera positioning for the PhotoRobot Carpet Studio is as illustrated in the following infographic.

- Cameras 1 through 4 are installed along the sides of the platform.

- Cameras 5 and 6 are installed in the top structure.

- Camera 7 (Canon EOS R6, not pictured above) is installed into the top structure into the socket on the end of the optical USB extension, hanging left or right from the top structure.

## 5. Operation Instructions

### 5.1. Switching ON the Carpet Studio

**5.1.1.** To power the Carpet Studio workstation, begin by switching on the main power breaker.

**5.1.2.** Next, switch on the Control Unit.

**5.1.3.** Power on the SynchroBox.

**5.1.4.** Switch on the LaserBox.

**5.1.5**. Switch on the workstation computer.

**5.1.6.** Launch PhotoRobot Controls App software on the computer, and go to Settings, followed by Workspaces, and select your workspace.

**5.1.7.** After selecting a workspace in CAPP, switch on button number 1 on the USB hub, and wait until the Camera 1 light changes to green.

**5.1.8.** Switch on button number 2 on the USB hub, and wait until the Camera 2 light is green.

**5.1.9.** Repeat the process for button number 3, button number 4, and button number 5 on the USB hub. Remember to wait for the corresponding camera light to change to green before switching on the next number.

**5.1.10.** Plug the Camera 6 (Canon EOS 5 DSR) USB connector into the socket at the end of the optical USB extension, and wait until the Camera 6 light is green.

**5.1.11.** After Camera 1 - 6 is connected, start test shooting.

**5.1.12.** Buttons number 6 and 7 on the USB hub correspond to Camera 7. Connect Camera 7 to either button 6 or button 7 depending on the position of the camera. This will depend on whether it is physically mounted to the left or to the right. Note that both buttons 6 and 7 on the USB hub can stay on continuously without causing any harm. Further, Camera 7 is a hand-operated camera, and it should be connected via the optical USB extension. The camera then powers on using its own on and off button, not the USB hub – and you should only power it on when actively using it.

**5.1.13.** Start test shooting with Camera 7, and then power off Camera 7 after it is ready for use.

### 5.2. Switching OFF the Carpet Studio

**5.2.1.** To switch OFF the Carpet Studio, begin by powering off Camera 7 using the power button on the camera body.

**5.2.2.** Next, unplug the Camera 6 (Canon EOS 5 DSR) USB connector from the socket on the end of the optical USB extension.

**5.2.3.** In order, switch OFF buttons number 5 followed by 4, then 3, 2, and 1 on the USB hub.

**5.2.4.** Quit PhotoRobot Controls App software on the workstation computer.

**5.2.5.** Shut down the workstation computer.

**5.2.6.** Power off LaserBox.

**5.2.7.** Switch off the SynchroBox.

**5.2.8.** Power off the Control Unit.

**5.2.9.** Switch off the main power breaker.

**Note:** If encountering issues during machine operation, please submit a support ticket via [https://support.photorobot.com](https://support.photorobot.com).

## PhotoRobot Viewer: Carpet & Flooring Visualizer

Developed with Jakub Klaus of Breno Carpets, the [Carpet & Flooring Visualizer](https://hosting.photorobot.com/demo/carpet-viewer) is a custom [PhotoRobot Product Viewer](https://www.photorobot.com/software/360-product-viewer) solution. It enables the digital presentation of carpets and rugs in a virtual space. Viewers can swap between different designs & colors, and position products around the room on different places of the floor. There is thumbnail navigation to change the interior view, with buttons to switch between products or load a 360 spin. The viewer also enables the configuration of the flooring allowing consumers to mix and match items with different interior designs.
