Operator Standard
From day-one operator to certified PhotoRobot Operator in under two weeks. The package that takes someone who has never touched a PhotoRobot system and gets them shooting production-grade catalogs at full studio speed.
- For: Studio operators, photographers, junior production staff
- Modules: 12
- Study time: ~14 hours self-paced
- Pass mark: 65 %
- Certificate validity: 2 years, renewed by a refresh exam
What you’ll learn
After completing the Operator Standard package and passing the certification exam, you will be able to:
- Run a daily PhotoRobot production line — open a project, create or select items, capture 360 spins + still frames + multi-row 3D, run the editing pipeline
- Operate every piece of standard PhotoRobot hardware — robotic turntable, robotic arm, Locator, camera, lights — set up, troubleshoot, recover from the most common failures
- Use the full Capture interface in CAPP — items, folders, frames, sequence control, scopes, presets, Freemask 2-light workflow
- Use Wizard mode for guided high-volume production
- Configure a camera for tethered Canon operation — USB, dummy battery, body settings, flash troubleshooting, resolution decisions
- Manage the lighting day-to-day — Fomei LED + Broncolor strobe operation, scope/preset switching, color drift monitoring
- Diagnose and recover from the most common production-floor issues — camera disconnect, flash not firing, robot offline, wrong workspace, sequence aborts
Who should take it
The Operator Standard package is for anyone whose daily job involves running a PhotoRobot system:
- New studio hires (junior operators, photographers transitioning from manual workflows)
- Existing staff being trained on PhotoRobot for the first time
- Cross-functional staff (studio managers, hardware specialists) who want to understand the operator workflow before specializing
- Seasonal / contract photographers placed in a PhotoRobot studio for a project
It is not for: studio managers who need workflow-design depth (see Studio Manager Essentials), network specialists who need infrastructure depth (see Network Specialist Essentials), or integrators building custom PhotoRobot integrations (see Integrator Essentials).
Prerequisites
None. Operator Standard is entry-level. Students don’t need to have ever touched a PhotoRobot system before. Familiarity with general DSLR / mirrorless camera operation is helpful but not required.
